Your privacy matters here. This is the plain English version of how your information is handled when you visit the site, book a session, register for a retreat, take The 2 AM Question, or join the list. Read it slowly. If anything is unclear, write to us – clarity is part of how we do everything.

01 — WHO’S BEHIND THIS

Who We Are

Julie LiT — Live in Truth (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the practice of Julietta Petrosyan, a UK-based coach, yoga teacher and mind-body practitioner offering 1:1 coaching, group practice, retreats, sessions and corporate work to clients worldwide.

For the purposes of UK GDPR and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the data controller is:

Julietta Petrosyan, trading as Julie LiT – Live in Truth
Based in the United Kingdom
Email:  hello@julie-lit.com
Web:  www.julie-lit.com

We comply with the UK Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, and – where applicable to European clients and retreat participants – EU GDPR.

02 — WHAT’S COVERED

What This Policy Covers

This policy applies to personal data collected through:

  • The website www.julie-lit.com
  • Discovery calls, 1:1 coaching, group practice, and sessions delivered online or in person
  • In-person retreats and workshops, including international retreat locations
  • Corporate engagements and B2B inquiries
  • Email, social media direct messages, and any forms you complete with us

If you arrive at our site through a third-party platform – Instagram, Substack, a podcast network – that platform’s privacy policy also applies while you’re on their service.

03 — WHAT WE COLLECT

What Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to do the work well. Depending on how you engage with us, that may include:

Contact & identity data

Name, email address, phone number, time zone, location, pronouns (if you choose to share), and the name of your company if you’re inquiring on behalf of one.

Booking & service data

Session type, dates and times booked, payment confirmation (not card numbers — see below), preferred language, and notes you provide ahead of a discovery call or session.

Intake & wellbeing data (special category)

For coaching, retreats and any work involving physical practice, we may ask you to complete an intake form. This can include lifestyle information, current stressors, areas of focus, and – where relevant – health information such as injuries, medical conditions, medications, pregnancy, allergies, dietary requirements and emergency contact details. This is treated as special category data under GDPR Article 9 and is handled with extra care (see Section 05).

Communication data

Emails, messages, voice notes, feedback, testimonials, and any content you share with us during sessions or via forms.

Website & analytics data

IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring URL, time on site, and similar usage data collected via cookies and analytics tools.

Marketing data

Your preferences for receiving the Live in Truth Letter and other communications, and your interactions with those emails (opens, clicks).

We do not collect or store payment card details. Payments are processed by Stripe and other PCI-compliant providers who handle that data directly.

04 — THE QUIET HOURS

The 2 AM Question & Free Resources

If you take The 2 AM Question self-audit or download another free resource, we collect:

  • Your email address (and first name, if asked)
  • Your responses to the audit, where applicable
  • The fact that you opted in, the date, and the page you opted in from

Your responses help us send you the most relevant follow-up. They are not shared, sold, or used to make automated decisions about you. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

05 — HOW WE USE IT

How We Use Your Information

We use your data only for these purposes:

  • To deliver the coaching, practice, retreat, session or corporate engagement you’ve booked
  • To respond to inquiries, discovery calls and customer service requests
  • To send you the Live in Truth Letter and resources you’ve opted in to receive
  • To safely run in-person retreats – dietary planning, accommodation matching, and emergency response
  • To improve the website, our services, and your experience of them
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations
  • To establish, exercise or defend legal claims, where necessary

We never sell your personal data. We do not use your data to train AI models or sell it to advertisers.

06 — LEGAL BASES

Lawful Basis for Processing

Under UK and EU GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Consent — when you opt in to the Live in Truth Letter, complete a lead magnet, agree to be photographed or filmed at a retreat, or share special category (health) data with us.
  • Contract — to deliver the coaching, retreat or corporate engagement you’ve booked and paid for.
  • Legal obligation — to meet HMRC tax, accounting, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Legitimate interests — to run and improve the business, respond to inquiries, and keep our records secure, in ways you would reasonably expect and that don’t override your rights.

You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing  hello@julie-lit.com or clicking unsubscribe in any marketing email.

07 — ON THE GROUND

Retreats & In-Person Events

Retreats involve additional information because we are responsible for your wellbeing on the ground. Before a retreat, we collect:

  • Health questionnaire responses (injuries, conditions, medications, pregnancy)
  • Dietary requirements and allergies
  • Emergency contact details
  • Travel and arrival information
  • Accommodation preferences
  • Photo and video consent (separate, opt-in)

During a retreat, we may capture photographs and video for personal practice records and – only with your explicit, written consent – for use on the website and social media. You can decline, withdraw consent, or request specific images be removed at any time.

Retreat data is shared on a need-to-know basis with the venue, retreat staff, co-facilitators and – in an emergency – medical professionals. Retreat data is retained for the duration of the retreat plus the period required for safeguarding and accounting purposes, then deleted or anonymised.

08 — CORPORATE WORK

Corporate Clients

When we work with a company on workshops, talks or wellbeing programmes, we collect business contact data – name, role, work email, company name – from the people who engage us, and, for delivered sessions, attendance and feedback data from participants.

Where the company asks us to handle personal data of its employees, we act as a data processor and operate under a written data processing agreement. We do not retain employee data beyond the engagement without a separate lawful basis.

09 — YOUR STORY, YOUR CONSENT

Testimonials, Photos & Marketing Use

We may share client quotes, testimonials, photos or video on the website and social media – but only with your explicit, written consent, and only in the form you’ve approved. You can withdraw consent and request removal at any time by emailing  hello@julie-lit.com. We will action removal requests within 30 days where the content is under our control.

10 — WHO WE SHARE WITH

Sharing Your Data

We share your data only with trusted service providers who help us run the practice. These currently include:

  • Calendly — booking scheduling
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Zoom — video sessions
  • Email service provider — for the Live in Truth Letter and transactional emails (provider named at signup)
  • Website host and analytics provider — for site hosting and traffic analysis
  • Retreat venues, co-facilitators and travel partners — only for the specific retreat you’ve booked
  • Accountants, bookkeepers and legal advisors — where required for compliance
  • Regulatory bodies and law enforcement — only where legally required

All processors are vetted, bound by contract, and required to handle your data in line with UK and EU GDPR. We do not sell, rent or trade your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

11 — BORDERS & TRANSFERS

International Data Transfers

We are based in the United Kingdom but operate retreats and serve clients in countries including Costa Rica, Portugal, Mexico, and elsewhere. As a result, your data may be transferred to, stored, or processed in countries outside the UK and EEA.

Where this happens, we rely on one or more of the following safeguards:

  • The European Commission’s or UK government’s adequacy decisions, where they exist
  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the UK and EU
  • Your explicit consent, where you have been informed of the risks
  • Necessity for the performance of a contract – for example, your retreat booking

You can request more detail on the safeguards in place by emailing  hello@julie-lit.com.

12 — HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

Data Retention

We hold your data only as long as we need it:

  • Inquiry data — up to 12 months from your last contact, then deleted
  • Active client and coaching records — for the duration of the engagement plus 6 years (UK tax and limitation period)
  • Retreat health and dietary records — duration of the retreat plus 12 months, unless a safeguarding matter requires longer
  • Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe, plus a 12-month suppression record so we don’t email you again by mistake
  • Financial and tax records — at least 6 years, as required by HMRC
  • Website analytics — typically up to 26 months, depending on provider settings

You can request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 14).

13 — COOKIES

Cookies & Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, to remember your preferences, and to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.

We use a mix of:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site to function
  • Analytics cookies — for example Google Analytics, to measure traffic and pages viewed
  • Marketing & preference cookies — only where you’ve consented via our cookie banner

You can withdraw or change your cookie consent at any time using the cookie banner, or by adjusting your browser settings to refuse cookies. Refusing non-essential cookies will not affect access to the core site.

14 — WHAT’S YOURS

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”), subject to legal retention obligations
  • Restrict or object to certain types of processing
  • Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the lawful basis
  • Not be subject to fully automated decisions that significantly affect you (see Section 17)
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (see Section 20)

To exercise any of these rights, email  hello@julie-lit.com. We will respond within one calendar month, as required by law.

15 — THE LETTER

Marketing Communications

We only send the Live in Truth Letter and other marketing emails to people who have opted in. You can:

  • Unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of every email
  • Email  hello@julie-lit.com to be removed
  • Update your preferences at any time

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional emails about a session, retreat or order you have booked with us – those are necessary to deliver the service.

16 — ADULTS ONLY

Children’s Privacy

Our services are designed for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please email  hello@julie-lit.com and we will delete it.

17 — DECISIONS ABOUT YOU

Automated Decisions & Profiling

We do not use your personal data for fully automated decisions or profiling that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. Any recommendation you receive from us — about a programme, retreat or resource — is made by a human.

18 — THINGS WE RECOMMEND

Affiliate Links

The website includes an affiliate and recommendations page where we link to books, products and services we use and trust. If you purchase through one of these links, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links do not change what we recommend, and we only recommend what we have personally used or vetted.

Affiliate partners may set their own cookies once you click through – their privacy policies will apply on their sites.

19 — HOW WE HOLD IT

Data Security & Breach Notification

We use reputable, encrypted platforms – HTTPS, encrypted email, password-protected accounts, two-factor authentication where available — and limit access to your data to those who need it.

No online system is ever 100% secure. In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the UK Information Commissioner’s Office within 72 hours, and notify you directly without undue delay where required by law.

20 — IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

Complaints

If you are concerned about how your data has been handled, please email us first at  hello@julie-lit.com – we’d like the chance to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):

If you are in the EEA, you can complain to the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

21 — UPDATES

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, the law, or best practice. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will always show the most recent version. For significant changes, we will email subscribers or post a notice on the website.
